THE 3rd BIENNIAL INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF ANIMATED OBJECTS!
JANUARY 19-28, 2007
The art of mask and puppetry is alive in downtown Calgary. The International
Festival of Animated Objects (IFAO) is a fantastical ten day celebration of all
things mask and puppet-like.
More than just puppetry, the IFAO features a myriad of local, national, and
international artists working in the broader realm of animated objects,
including new media artist and youth leader Archer Pechawis, musician and
animator Chad VanGaalen, Team America World Police puppeteers the Chiodo
Bros., comedian Cory Mack, Faustwork Mask Theatre, sideshow hucksters
Ghostwriter Theatre, puppet-maker and body-painter Jacquie Paul, hip-hop
artist and youth leader Jerilynn Webster, rocker and artist Kara Keith,
traditional Aboriginal mask and cultural performers 'Ksan Performing Arts,
shadow puppeteer Lynn Jeffries, Cirque du Soleil clown Mooky Cornish,
hysterical satirist Paul Zaloom, multi-media puppeteers Red Smarteez
Marionettes, internationally celebrated auteur Ronnie Burkett, scandalous
sasspots Small Brown Package Theatre, and emerging Aboriginal and non-
Aboriginal youth theatre troupe Young Spirit Voices!
Fun, exotic and interactive, the IFAO turns on the heat and adds sizzle to
downtown with events for adult and family audiences.
